Actually, after a year of marriage i.e. in 2004, soundarya stepped into politics. She had joined bharatiya janata party and telugu Desam Party. soundarya had left the flight with her brother amarnath for a political rally to be held in Karimnagar, but she died in an accident a few minutes later. In fact, on april 17, 2004, soundarya took a 4-seater private aircraft Cassna 180 from Bangalore to Karimnagar.

 The flight took off from the Jakkur airfield in Bengaluru at around 11:05 am, but the flight caught fire as soon as it went up 100 feet. soundarya was accompanied by her brother amarnath, Hindu Jagran Samiti secretary Ramesh Kadam and pilot Joy Philip in this accident. All the people lost their lives in the accident.
