Order to remove encroachment from NH bank in Uttarakhand..!?

The uttarakhand high court has taken cognizance and issued an order regarding the bad condition of the highway from Khutani Mor to Padampuri in nainital district. The uttarakhand high court has ordered the removal of encroachments from government and forest land along national and state highways across the state. The court has asked all district Magistrates and Divisional Forest Officers to file their compliance reports regarding the order within four weeks. A bench of Chief Justice Bipin Sanghi and Justice Rakesh Thapalial passed the order on Wednesday. The bench issued this order taking suo motu cognizance of a letter written by delhi resident Prabhat gandhi to the Chief Justice of the high court regarding the bad condition of the highway from Khutani Mor to Padampuri in nainital district due to encroachment. The letter states that commercial establishments, shops, and even temples have been built along highways in Khutani and Padampuri by encroaching on government and forest land.


The court has asked district magistrates and forest officials not only to remove encroachment from government land but also to investigate it properly. The court has also asked them to file their compliance report within four weeks. The next date of hearing in the case has been fixed on september 5. Even before the order of the high court, the district administration started the process of removing encroachments from various places.



During the G-20 meeting, all encroachments on footpaths were removed from rudrapur in Udhamsingh nagar district to Ramnagar in nainital district. In fact, besides the roads, the encroachers have also occupied the banks of the rivers. According to the Forest Department, there is encroachment on the banks of 23 rivers of the state. There is also encroachment on the banks of tributaries of Haldwani ki Goula, Chogarlia ki Nandhore, and ganga ki. Now after the order of the high court on Wednesday, the campaign against encroachment in the state may intensify.
