A biopic on the legendary Sri Lankan cricketer Muthiah Muralidharan has been made and is set to release in theatres soon. The trailer of the film was launched by sachin tendulkar and Sanath Jaisurya in Mumbai. The film is titled '800' and 'Slumdog Millionaire' actor Madhurr Mittal will be seen portraying the role of the legendary cricketer.
But Murlidharan proved that he's a true sportsman as he kept his promise on saturday despite the heavy rains and played cricket with the media. He also happily posed for the fans who came to see him play. The cricketer signed cricket balls for fans and took pictures with the restaurant staff and everyone gathered at the premises.
With this spirit of keeping his promise and playing cricket despite the heavy rains in Mumabi, Muralidharan certainly won hearts of everyone. He also urged everyone to watch '800' and not just because the film is his biopic. "Please watch' the film 800 not because it is my film but for a message that people give up easily which should not be the case. If you keep pushing, you will eventually get what you want,” he said. Written and directed by MS Sripathy, the film will be released in four languages, Tamil, hindi and Telugu. The film will also be releasing in Sinhalese for the worldwide audience to see. The film is set to release on october 6.
Averaging over six wickets per Test match, Muralitharan is widely regarded as the most successful and one of the greatest bowlers in the history of the sport.
