According to reports, rajamouli and his producer have purchased the rights to Wilbur Smith's popular novels, The Ballantyne Novels, which chronicle the lives of Ballantyne's family and were published across three decades. There are seven novels in this series, but various stories are emerging regarding the purchase of the copyrights, with some sources revealing that just one novel was purchased and others revealing that all of them were purchased.

Mahesh would most likely begin filming the film after the release of guntur Kaaram, since he will be completely free of any engagements by then.
