The central government commemorated the centennial of late chief minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) by issuing a special 100-rupee commemorative coin in his honor. The hyderabad mint received an exceptional reaction to this homage, breaking the country's record for commemorative coin sales.

The ntr commemorative coin sold 25 thousand pieces in just two and a half months after its release. This has been hailed as a watershed moment in India's commemorative coin sales history. VNR Naidu emphasized the importance of this achievement, stating that sales of the ntr commemorative coin had broken previous records, more than double the previous standard of 12,000 units. Among the 200 commemorative coins created around the country, the ntr commemorative coin has the greatest sales numbers, confirming NTR's ongoing popularity and significance.

Murmu stated that NTR's acting also represented the sorrow of the ordinary people and propagated the message of social justice and equality in one of his films, "Manushulanta Okkate" (all human beings are equal).

The President stated that NTR's popularity as a public worker and leader was equal. Through his exceptional personality and hard labour, he established a new chapter in indian politics. "He initiated many public welfare programmes that are still remembered today," she added, adding that his distinct personality will live on in the hearts of the people, particularly Telugu-speaking people.
