In an interview, junior Bachchan said that he was offered 'Rang De Basanti', but he turned it down. He said, 'The way Rakesh Om Prakash Mehra narrated the story of this film to me. I didn't understand anything. During this, abhishek also told an incident of the 90s related to Rakesh.
He said, 'Rakesh had written the script of a period film called Samjhauta Express. He narrated this film to my father amitabh bachchan in the hope that he would make it under his banner 'ABCL'. But, when he narrated the story, I came to know that Rakesh is the worst storyteller in the world. You just read his script, and never take any narration from him. Otherwise, you will get confused, which is what he did to me during Rang De Basanti. I didn't understand anything.
Abhishek further said that after listening to the story, he told Rakesh, 'I did not understand, I don't want to do it, then he made Rang De Basanti.' abhishek said, 'He didn't even know for which role he was offered the film in Rang De Basanti. After this, when he came to me for Delhi-6, I said yes. I didn't even read the script,'
