The sankranti box office battle in kollywood is heating up as Dhanush's 'Captain Miller' and shiva Karthikeyan's 'Ayalan' vie for supremacy. Both films, backed by substantial budgets and impressive pre-release business, showcase the equal market stature and stardom of dhanush and siva karthikeyan in the tamil film industry.

On the opening day in tamil Nadu, 'Captain Miller' secured an impressive Rs. 6.5 crores, while 'Ayalan' garnered Rs. 3.5 crores. Looking at the global scale, 'Captain Miller' achieved a gross of approximately Rs. 13 crores, surpassing 'Ayalan' with a gross of around Rs. 6.7 crores. Despite minimal pre-release promotions, both films fell short of expected openings, given the market presence of these two kollywood stalwarts.


Currently, both 'Ayalan' and 'Captain Miller' boast similar occupancy rates in Kollywood. With promising bookings, there is anticipation for strong box office collections in the coming days. Notably, the films belong to distinct genres, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the competition. 'Captain Miller' is a period action drama featuring priyanka Arul Mohan alongside dhanush, with prominent roles played by kannada Siva Rajkumar, Aditi Balan, sandeep Kishan, among others.


On the other hand, 'Ayalan' is a sci-fi venture starring rakul preet singh opposite shiva Karthikeyan, supported by a talented ensemble cast including Isha Koppikar, Sharad Kelkar, Bhanupriya, yogi Babu, Karunakaran, and bala Saravanan. Both films convey strong messages, and as the battle unfolds, it remains to be seen which of these two distinctive genres will emerge victorious at the sankranti box office.
