Thalapathy Vijay's film "Leo," directed by lokesh kanagaraj, was released theatrically on october 19, 2023. While the film initially became one of the highest-grossing films of 2023, the second part received mixed reviews and was criticized for being slow-moving. Vijay's father, SA chandrasekhar, revealed that he had pointed out the flaws in the weak second half to the director before the film's release.

Chandrasekhar shared his experience of watching the first copy of "Leo" five days before its release during a recent movie promotional event. After watching the film, he called the director, lokesh kanagaraj, and praised the first half while expressing concerns about the second half. However, chandrasekhar mentioned that the director abruptly ended the call during the discussion about the second half.

Chandrasekhar emphasized that he had raised the issue about the second half of "Leo" before its release, and the audience later echoed similar sentiments after the film's release. Although he did not explicitly mention names, it was understood that he was referring to director lokesh Kanagaraj.

At a press event, kanagaraj was asked about the criticism regarding the second half of "Leo." He acknowledged the slow portions in the film and mentioned that the audience would find intricate details by exploring the previous installments of the franchise. kanagaraj teased that the prelude story he has created for "Leo" will shock the audience. The announcement has generated curiosity about Kanagaraj's future projects in the lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU).
