The creators of srimanthudu were entangled in legal fights over the legitimacy and integrity of their 2015 film, srimanthudu, which starred mahesh babu and was directed by koratala Siva. The film, which was a critical and economic success, became the focus of attention when a copyright complaint was launched against them for a serialised award-winning novel called Chachenta Prema, which was published in swathi magazine.

The legal struggle had been ongoing for some time, and with rumours spreading, the makers decided to reply to the claims by issuing a statement on Srimanthudu's Creative Integrity.
The srimanthudu crew issued the following statement: "We address the topic around Mr. koratala Siva's 'Srimanthudu' in light of charges of similarities to the novel 'Chachentha Prema. Both works, which are in the public domain, include different storylines with no overlap, a fact easily verified by those who investigate the book and film."

The statement said, "As the subject is still under legal assessment, with no hearings or verdicts to yet, we ask journalists and commentators to avoid from drawing hasty conclusions. We emphasise the significance of discussing informed comparisons and legal results."

"We truly believe in the uniqueness of 'Srimanthudu' and our basic concept of adopting a community, and we welcome everyone who is interested to individually evaluate the two works. Our request is for patience and faith in the judicial system while adhering to the ideals of justice and honesty," they concluded.
