As far as Virudhunagar constituency is concerned, congress candidate Manikam Tagore won by 4,70,883 votes in the last lok sabha elections. Next to him, DMD candidate Alagarswamy secured 2nd place by securing 3,16,329 votes.
After Vijayakanth's demise, DMDK has fielded Vijaya Prabhakaran with the idea that he will get more support votes and if he contests this election from Virudhunagar constituency, he will be sure of victory.
