The creators of Cobra Kai have teased fans with the prospect of an exciting new project: a prequel series centered around the beloved character Mr. Miyagi. This news comes as fans revel in the first five episodes of Cobra Kai's three-part final season, which has already amassed an impressive 24.3 million views since its release on July 18.

In an exclusive interview with The hollywood Reporter, creators Hayden Schlossberg, josh Heald, and Jon Hurwitz discussed their future plans for the Karate Kid universe. The trio, who have successfully revived and expanded the franchise with Cobra Kai, are now looking to delve deeper into the backstory of one of its most iconic characters.

"Mr. Miyagi has always been a character of mystery and wisdom," Schlossberg said. "We've hinted at his past throughout Cobra Kai, but we feel there's so much more to explore and reveal about his life and journey before he became the wise mentor we all know and love."

The proposed prequel series aims to shed light on Mr. Miyagi's early years, exploring his experiences in Okinawa, his time in the U.S. military during World war II, and the events that shaped his philosophy and martial arts prowess. By delving into these untold stories, the creators hope to honor the character's legacy while adding new dimensions to the Karate Kid lore.

"We've always been fascinated by Mr. Miyagi's backstory," Heald added. "There are so many rich, emotional, and action-packed moments in his life that we've only briefly touched upon. This prequel series will allow us to explore those moments in depth and give fans a deeper understanding of what makes Mr. Miyagi such a beloved and enduring character."
