Saira Banu: saira banu had reached the premiere of 'Mughal-e-Azam' for a glimpse of sahab, her wish remained unfulfilled

Dilip Kumar and madhubala starrer 'Mughal-e-Azam' was released on 5 August 1960. Its premiere took place at 'Maratha Mandir' in Mumbai, in which Saira Banu was also invited. Saira Banu's happiness knew no bounds. She was more happy to see sahab i.e. Dilip Kumar than watching the film. saira banu was a fan of actor dilip Kumar. She had started preparations several days before going to the premiere. On the occasion of the film's anniversary on August 5, saira banu shared a post and said that she had started trying to improve her hair and skin several days ago. Today on Tuesday, in another post, she has made many more interesting revelations.

Dilip Kumar was a popular actor of his time. Many actresses in the industry liked him. Stories of love between dilip kumar and Madhubala are also told. Despite knowing that many actresses including Madhubala were interested in dilip kumar, saira Bano continued to love dilip kumar with great passion and dreamt of becoming Mrs. dilip kumar, which also came true. In a post shared on Instagram, saira Bano said that she had reached the premiere of 'Mughal-e-Azam' wearing a one-ton sari. She was very underweight due to the sari, and she was having difficulty walking, but with the help of her mother she tied the sari and then reached 'Maratha Mandir' with the hope that 'Sahib would go crazy after seeing me'.

Saira Bano has written, 'I persuaded my mother to give me her heavy lace sari instead of a western dress. I had built castles in the air for many years and I was aware that many women including the beautiful Madhubala were interested in Sahib. But do you think anything could stop me from my dream of becoming Mrs. dilip Kumar? Finally, on August 5, 1960, the moment of the premiere at 'Maratha Mandir' came, when I was hoping to make eye contact with him, but that moment was wasted. I did not get a glimpse of Saheb. And I felt as if cold water had been poured on me.

The hope with which saira Bano had reached, was not fulfilled. dilip kumar did not reach the premiere. The actress has written, 'Later I came to know that the deep friendship between Saheb and his very close friend and director of 'Mughal-e-Azam' had soured because Asif Saheb had shocked Saheb and his family by secretly marrying dilip Saheb's younger sister Akhtar without saying a word to him. I was sitting on my seat with my mother in the premiere'.

Saira Bano has further written, 'The strange thing is that Saheb did not see 'Mughal-e-Azam' due to these adverse circumstances. Later after our marriage, we were invited to the Film and television Institute of Pune. It was a fascinating experience, with all the students gathering around Saheb and the people of the institute having the honour of welcoming dilip Saheb and maintaining his films which were shown repeatedly to those who studied at the institute. As soon as I learned that he had organized 'Mughal-e-Azam' as a reading of the play, I jumped with joy. I requested him to show 'Mughal-e-Azam' and was instrumental in showing 'Mughal-e-Azam' to Saheb for the first time. What an honor that was!
