Karan Johar Recalls Industry's Cold Response to His Dad's Flops:

Karan Johar recently appeared on the first episode of Zakir Khan’s new show, Aapka Apna Zakir, and shared both funny and emotional moments from his life. karan talked about how his late father, yash Johar, struggled when some of his films flopped, leading to the industry being indifferent to him. He also said that he regrets that his father wasn’t there to see dharma productions reach its peak success.

When asked if karan ever thought his films would succeed, he said he never felt confident. He worried about losses and financial trouble, recalling how his father took a loan for Dostana, which succeeded, but many of his other films didn’t. “I never felt that I have killed it or my film will do wonders at the box office. I feel like I will incur losses and I will come on the streets; because I am a producer’s son. My father was a production controller for 30 years and when he produced his first film, he took a very heavy loan to make Dostana, and the film worked. But after that when he made many other films and they all flopped,” he recalled.

Karan Johar regretted that his father wasn’t around to see dharma Productions’ success. He said it was tough to see his father go through the failures and wished he could have seen Dharma’s peak. “When films flop you get tagged, your failure is announced to the world and it was tough to see him go through that. He would have been very happy to see dharma today. I feel sad that he left us very soon; he only saw 5-6 years of my journey. That is my biggest regret that he wasn’t around when dharma was in its best phase,” he said, wrapping up
