AR Rahman: AR Rahman's daughter Khatija is not afraid of being compared to her father, said - he is a big legend

Composer AR Rahman's daughter Khatija has made her tamil debut as a music director for 'Minmini'. Her father, AR Rahman, is a renowned global composer and two-time oscar winner. Her aunt, AR Rehana, is a music director, and her cousin, GV Prakash is also a music director. Now recently, in an interview, she talked about her musical journey and also praised her father.

In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Khatija said that she wants to be famous for her music. Khatija said, 'When director Halitha Shameem approached me for Minmini, I was busy working on my music album. So I could not accept the offer. After my album, I got an offer for 'Sherni' from director Kajri Babbar around July 2023 and I signed it around the same time, I got an international offer for a short film, which I did not accept.'

Khatija was further asked how much help she got from her father on this journey. To this she said, 'He told me that he does not know much about music and he is doing what he knows, he told us to listen to a lot of world music, look at other cultures and not follow the trend because trends last only for a short time. So create your trend. He also told us that we need to understand the director's vision and follow it.'

Khatija was further asked if she ever felt pressured by seeing her father's stardom. On this she saidI did not think about the comparison because he is a huge legend and I am just starting, but we need to do our best because I have to make my father, director, and my family proud.
