Why did Shah Rukh take a four-year break?

After the failure of 'Zero', Shah Rukh Khan took a break from acting. Then the king of bollywood returned to films after four years with 'Pathan' in the year 2023. The actor then set the box office on fire with all-time blockbusters - 'Pathan', 'Jawaan' and the hit 'Dunkey'. At the same time, now king Khan has revealed why he took a four-year break.

Did not take a break due to Zero's flop

In fact, during an interview given to Variety, Shah Rukh Khan revealed the reason for taking a four-year break from acting after zero flopped. Shah Rukh clarified that his break from films was not due to the failure of Zero. The actor said, "I try to make it as different as possible, given the parameters of commercial cinema.

Talking about his film selection, Shah Rukh said, “Yes, there should be songs, dances, fights and emotions. But can we still say something new? So, whatever films I did, whether it was Jab Harry Met sejal or zero or the ones that didn't do well like Fan, I thought it was an interesting film. I love that film. Some of the ones I like the most are the ones that didn't do well. And I have a reason for it.”

The films that didn't work were very personal

The 'Darr' actor admitted that his big box office failures (Fan, Jab Harry Met sejal, and Zero) were not that simple, and that could be the reason why they flopped. He said cinema is a mass communication medium. "It needs to communicate very simply to a lot of people. It shouldn't be intellectual. It shouldn't be preachy. I always say it can't be moralistic. It just needs to be simple. Some of these films that didn't work were so personal that they weren't that simple, they were so personal that they became very narrow," king Khan said.
