Stree 2 box office - Inching towards 200 Crores!

A few weeks ago, nobody would have predicted that a film starring Shraddha Kapoor and rajkummar rao would bring much-needed attention to the industry, which has been severely hurt by the absence of blockbusters with big-name stars. Indeed, the sequel is expected to earn a healthy opening of 20–25 crores, thanks to the series and Stree's iconic status, but what is now taking place in the theaters is sheer insanity.

At the box office, stree 2 has set off a frenzy, exploding on its first day of business. According to early projections, the movie is expected to earn about Rs 42 crore on Independence Day, with a whopping Rs 22 crore coming from the top three national chains, PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis. All of the theaters are at capacity for the movie, and there are lines at some of the sites.

It is noteworthy that these figures were attained in spite of a three-way competition for box office receipts between Vedaa and Khel Khel Mein. Days one and two collections may have ranked much higher if stree 2 had been given a separate release. The movie is expected to enjoy an unprecedented prolonged six-day opening weekend due to the high demand, with a possible gross of Rs 200 crore over those six days. With this kind of pace, the movie is very certain to surpass Rs 300 crore, and depending on how long its legs are, it may even make Rs 400 crore net from india alone. Both single screens and multiplexes are drawing large crowds for stree 2, and demand for more showings is only increasing.
