Bollywood actor varun dhawan is all set to embark on a new journey in the highly anticipated war film 'Border 2.' In this sequel to the 1997 hit Border, varun will star alongside Sunny Deol.

Sunny welcomes varun dhawan to Border 2 team

Sunny took to instagram to welcome varun to the project, sharing a text-based video that features Varun’s voice. In the clip, he says, “Dushman ki har goli se, ‘Jai Hind’ bol ke takraata hoon. Jab dharti maa bulletin hai, sab chhod kar aata hoon,” while the classic track “Aye Guzarane Waali Hawa” sung by Sonu Nigam is played in the background. 

Varun Dhawan too shared the news on Instagram

Varun also took to Instagram and shared the clip and wrote, “I was just a kid in class four when I went to Chandan cinema and saw Border. And it made such a big impact. I still remember the sense of national pride we all felt in the hall.” 

He added, “I began looking up to our armed forces and to this day, I salute how they protect us and keep us safe be it on our borders or during natural calamities. J P Dutta sir’s war epic remains one of my favorite movies to this day. To play a part in Border 2 produced by J P sir and Bhushan Kumar is a very, very special moment in my career. And I get to work with Sunny Paaji my hero makes it all the more special. I look forward to bringing a valiant jawaan story to the screen in what promises to be India’s biggest war film. I seek your good wishes 🙏 jai Hind.”

'Border 2' features a stellar cast, including sunny deol, varun dhawan, siddharth Chaturvedi, Vedant Raina, and Aditya Roy Kapur. While the original film focused on the historic Battle of Longewala, the sequel is expected to depict the events of the Kargil war of 1999.  

'Border 2' is produced by bhushan kumar, krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, and is presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series in collaboration with J.P. Films. Fans can look forward to this thrilling war drama hitting theaters on january 23, 2026.
