Rajkummar Rao Defends Ranbir Kapoor's Animal

Rajkummar Rao, known for his role in stree 2, has expressed his support for the film Animal, directed by sandeep Reddy Vanga and starring Ranbir Kapoor, rashmika mandanna, and Triptii Dimri. In an exclusive interview with News18, Rao shared his positive experience with the movie, praising its entertainment value and Vanga’s unique storytelling approach. He appreciated the film's fresh take and Ranbir Kapoor’s performance, stating that he enjoyed it for what it was meant to be.

Rao remarked, “Some films are purely for entertainment, like those where you’re told to ‘leave your brain at home’. Animal was one such film. I enjoyed it due to its music and the way it was made. Vanga sir has a distinctive storytelling style that I found very engaging. Ranbir’s performance was exceptional. I knew exactly what to expect, and I was prepared to watch a film titled Animal rather than one about an ideal person.”

Regarding the success of stree 2, Rao commented, “Box office numbers indicate how many people have seen the film. It’s gratifying to know that so many people made an effort to watch it in theaters. It’s humbling to see audiences cheering for your performance and engaging with the film.”

Since its release in december 2023, Animal has generated considerable discussion. Despite some criticism over its violent and perceived misogynistic content, the film has been a commercial success, earning approximately Rs 800 crore globally.
