Actor prithviraj Sukumaran recently addressed the Justice hema Committee report and the subsequent revelations from many survivors. Despite senior actors and superstars like mohanlal and mammootty remaining silent about the Justice hema Committee report—which highlights numerous challenges faced by women in the malayalam film industry, such as sexual harassment, inadequate basic facilities like toilets, gender bias, and pay disparities—younger actors are taking a stand.

Prithviraj Sukumaran on Justice hema Committee Report

Prithviraj disclosed that he was one of the first to speak with the Justice hema Committee and provide a statement. He also expressed eagerness to see what actions will be taken against any identified perpetrators. He criticized the Association of malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) for its inadequate response to the survivor's complaints, specifically referencing the complaint made by his Avan Chandiyude Makan co-star Sridevika against director Thulasidas. "Stronger intervention and actions are needed from AMMA,he asserted.

When questioned about the potential impact of these incidents on the film industry, prithviraj emphasized that there should be a significant impact. "If there are allegations, there should be a watertight investigation into them. Those found guilty should receive the punishment they deserve,he stated. He also noted that if any complaints are proven false, the complainant should face consequences. Prithviraj affirmed his commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of everyone in the workspaces he is involved in.

Prithiviraj on the existence of a "power group"

Regarding the existence of the "power groupmentioned in the hema panel report, prithviraj acknowledged that while he hasn't personally encountered such a group, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. "Just because I haven’t faced any issues from a so-called influential group doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. I haven’t experienced it, but if anyone in malayalam cinema has been affected by such a group, their grievances must be heard. If such a body exists, it should be dismantled,he added.

The Justice hema Committee report indicates that around 10-15 individuals at the forefront of the malayalam film industry form a power group that controls the industry.
