Malayalam Actor Baburaj Accused of S*xually Assaulting junior Artiste at His Home

Malayalam producer and actor A younger artist has accused Baburaj of sexual assault, causing a stir inside the film business. The lady claims that the event happened in Baburaj's Aluva house, where she was called under the pretense of talking about a role in a movie. She claimed that when she got to the house, instead of the director, screenwriter, and production controller he had mentioned, she only saw Baburaj and his assistant.

The actress describes the terrifying incident in her statement, alleging that Baburaj then went into the room where she was sleeping, abused her, and had sex with her. "Only Baburaj and his helper were at his house when I got there. He offered me a place to relax, but then he came knocking on the door. I opened the door, and he entered the room, shut it, cursed at me, and assaulted and molested me sexually. The woman said to us, "I didn't complain to anyone because he's a famous actor and I didn't have support from anyone."

She said that this kind of behavior is typical in the film business, where women are frequently asked if they are prepared to make "adjustments" in order to land jobs. The actress waited to register a formal complaint because of Baburaj's notoriety and her concern for reprisals in a field that, in her opinion, does not assist those who have survived similar tragedies. She did, however, speak with Kochi's then-Deputy Commissioner of police (DCP), who gave her the advice to make an official complaint. She decided not to take legal action at the time in spite of this.
