'Remove the trailer of Emergency', Kangana Ranaut gets legal notice, accused of hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community

 Kangana Ranaut's most awaited film 'Emergencyhas been embroiled in a lot of controversies even before its release. The release of the film is in trouble. The Sikh community has been raising objections against the trailer of this film since its release and is demanding a ban on its release. Amidst all this, on Tuesday, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) sent a notice to the makers of the film, including kangana, asking them to remove the trailer released earlier this month.


‘Emergency’ accused of hurting Sikh sentiments

SGPC secretary Pratap Singh objected to the film and revealed that separate letters were written to the Union Information and Broadcasting minister and the CBFC chairman to ban ‘Emergency’. He accused Ranaut of hurting Sikh sentiments and claimed that several "anti-Sikh scenes had surfaced after the film's trailer was released."


GDPC and Akal Takht also objected

Last week, GDPC and Akal Takht demanded an immediate ban on the film and claimed that it tries to "character assassinateSikhs by creating a narrative against them. SGPC chief harjinder singh Dhami told a press conference that he demanded an FIR against Ranaut and expressed objection against the film. He said that there have been many such instances in the past when Sikh sentiments were hurt due to the wrong presentation of the community in films. While seeking a ban on the film, they called the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) 'biasedand urged the inclusion of Sikh members in the censor board.

Accusation of Kangana's film of character assassination of the Sikh community

On the other hand, Akal Takht's Jathedar (head) Giani Raghbir Singh claimed that the film "deliberately misrepresents the character of Sikhs as separatists, which is part of a deep conspiracy.He argued that the film "insultsthe community and accused kangana of "deliberate character assassinationof Sikhs.


He said, "The community can never forget the anti-Sikh brutality of june 1984 and Ranaut's film is trying to character assassinate Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale, who has been declared a Qaumi Shaheed (martyr of the community) by Sri Akal Takht Sahib."


When will 'Emergencybe released

Kangana Ranaut announced 'Emergencyin 2021. Later the actress clarified that even though it is a political drama, it is not a biopic of Indira Gandhi. Let us tell you that in 'Emergency', Kangana played the role of the late former prime minister Indira Gandhi. She has also directed this film. Apart from kangana, Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, mahima Chaudhary, and shreyas talpade are also in important roles in 'Emergency'. Late actor Satish kaushik will also be seen in the role of former Deputy prime minister of india Jagjivan Ram. This film is releasing in theaters on 6 September.
