Vijay varma Opens Up About Living With Skin Condition Vitiligo: 'I Have Covered It Up For My Movies'

Vijay varma discussed his struggles with vitiligo and whether or not it impacts his career. The actor is getting ready for his next film 'IC 814'.

Famous for his strong performances in ‘Gully Boy’ and ‘Darlings’, actor vijay varma has talked about his experience with vitiligo, a skin ailment that causes patches of lighter skin to appear due to the loss of pigment. varma discussed his strategy for coping with the disease in an interview with ETimes, showing how he deals with the pressure on physical attractiveness in his field.

Vijay said that he has always been comfortable with his vitiligo, but that he covers it up while he's on film so that it doesn't detract from his performances. He said, “I have covered it up for my movies because it just distracts, and I don’t want my audience to look at anything else except for what I want to show them, so that is the reason I hide it. But for all my public appearances, for all these years, I have never bothered to cover it up.

In retrospect, Vijay, looking back on his 12-year run in the film business, did worry that his vitiligo might hurt his career when he was first out of work. But those worries went away as he started to succeed. The actor said, “It used to worry me when I was an out-of-work actor. I would wonder if this would become an obstacle. But ever since I have been working and seeing a lot of success, it hasn’t bothered me.”
