Suriya Announces Postponement of Kanguva to Avoid Clash with Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan

Suriya’s highly anticipated film Kanguva was initially slated to release on october 10, the same day as Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan. However, in a recent announcement, Suriya confirmed that Kanguva has been postponed, and a new release date will be announced soon. Suriya explained that the decision to delay the release was made out of respect for Rajinikanth, acknowledging his seniority and longstanding influence in tamil cinema.

At the audio launch of his brother Karthi’s film Meiyazhagan, Suriya shared his thoughts: “Over the past two and a half years, more than 1,000 people have dedicated their efforts day and night to create Kanguva, aiming to deliver a special film to tamil cinema. From director Siva to the entire cast and crew, their hard work in challenging conditions will not go unnoticed. I am confident that you, the audience, will show the same love and respect for the film once it is released.”

Suriya continued, “On october 10, Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan is releasing. Out of respect, we have decided to postpone our film. Rajinikanth is a legend who began his career when I was just born. His contributions to tamil cinema span over 50 years. It is only fitting that his film be released first. I hope you will support me in this decision.”

Describing Kanguva as a “child” whose “birthday” will be celebrated with its eventual release, Suriya appealed for the audience’s continued support and prayers for the film’s success. He emphasized that the film's release will be a significant event, and he asked for everyone’s support to make it memorable.

In a recent update on his X handle, Suriya shared the trailer for Kanguva, expressing pride in the team’s work and extending birthday wishes to director Siva. The trailer features dramatic scenes of tribal warriors preparing for battle against bobby Deol's character, showcasing Suriya’s fierce and dynamic role. The film promises a grand entry into the Pan-India market, blending prehistoric and futuristic elements.

Kanguva is set to be one of the biggest and most expensive films of the year, with an estimated budget exceeding ₹350 crore. The film has been shot across seven countries, making it a truly global project.
