After the success of the movie Alaipayuthe, Swarnamalya got married to arjun Raja Raman, a foreign groom whom her parents saw, and settled abroad in 2002. But unfortunately, her married life ended in divorce within two years.
Swarna Mallya, who started focusing on cinema again after her divorce, acted opposite prabhu deva in the Vijayakanth starrer 'Engal Anna'. This film was well-received by the fans. Later, she acted in many films like Kiya Kiya, Yuga, Leesham, Sajkum Taniyum, Vellithrai, kerala Police, Inge Ena Kolludu, Puliwal, etc. Swarnamalya, who has recently been focusing not only on the silver screen but also on the small screen, recently spoke about her divorce and being cast in a pornographic film in an interview given to a private YouTube channel. Speaking about this, Swarnamalya said, "My parents wanted me to get married and settle down abroad. My marriage took place at a young age because the bridegroom was what my parents liked. Although I was not interested in marriage, I thought that I should talk to my parents about some things... without saying anything. I entered married life with my mind set on marriage but everything would be fine.But the problems that arose after the marriage... led to divorce. Many people said that my presence in the cinema was the reason for the divorce. But the truth is there is no truth in that. My grandfather was also in the cinema. When I got good opportunities in the cinema, I was not able to get a stable place in the cinema due to a lack of proper guidance. After working in director Mani Ratnam's film, I mistakenly thought that everyone would be like him. Taking advantage of my ignorance, some people tricked me into playing a guest role in a pornographic film. That film is a dubbed film. They also gave me a CD of the original film. I have also signed a contract to act on those scenes. Think how playfully I would have done it if that was the case. Because I was cheated, I can even go to court and talk about it.
