Amitabh Bachchan Outlines Property Plans and Shares Family Dynamics

Amitabh Bachchan has discussed his plans for his estate following his death, revealing his approach to dividing his property equally between his children. In a 2011 interview, Bachchan spoke about his intentions regarding his will and the equal treatment of his children, Shweta Bachchan Nanda and abhishek Bachchan.

“I made a decision long ago that I would not favor one child over the other,” amitabh said in an interview with Rediff. “When I pass away, whatever I leave behind will be divided equally between my daughter and my son — there will be no distinction. Jaya and I agreed on this principle a long time ago. people often say that a daughter is 'paraya dhan' and moves to her husband’s house, but to me, she is our daughter and has the same rights as Abhishek,” he added. Notably, last year, amitabh gifted his bungalow, Jalsa, valued at Rs 50 crores, to Shweta Bachchan Nanda.

In the same interview, amitabh also shared insights into his relationship with his son, abhishek Bachchan. He revealed that he views abhishek more as a friend than as a son. “Even before abhishek was born, I decided that if I had a son, he would be my friend. The moment he started wearing my shoes, he became my friend. I rarely see him as just my son. I care for him as a father, give him advice, and look out for him, but when we talk, it’s as friends,” amitabh explained.
