Amitabh Bachchan 'Couldn't Sleep for Two Nights' After aishwarya Rai's Accident

In 2003, while filming Khakee near Nashik, aishwarya Rai experienced a frightening accident that left the cast and crew deeply shaken. A stuntman lost control of his vehicle, speeding and crashing into Aishwarya's chair, catching her and co-star Tushar Kapoor off guard. akshay kumar intervened, managing to pull the car away and get aishwarya to safety before she was rushed to the hospital.

Amitabh Bachchan, who later became Aishwarya’s father-in-law after her marriage to his son Abhishek, was particularly disturbed by how the media portrayed the incident. The press downplayed her injuries, which angered Bachchan. In an interview with Rediff, he expressed his frustration, recounting the severity of the situation and his worries for Aishwarya’s health. “I asked Aishwarya’s mother if she wanted to take her daughter back to Mumbai. We arranged Anil Ambani’s private plane, as there’s no night landing in Nashik, requiring permission to land at a military base 45 minutes from the hospital. Seats had to be removed from the plane, yet the media dismissed it as a minor incident,” he lamented.

Amitabh shared that the traumatic event left him sleepless for two nights. He recalled the distressing sight of Aishwarya’s injuries, which included lacerations from cactus thorns and a broken bone in her foot, noting that the media labeled her injuries as trivial.
