Javed Akhtar first married Honey Irani. The couple has two children Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar. However, Javed and Honey separated in 1985. Javed Akhtar's divorce with Honey Irani had a deep impact on his son Farhan Akhtar. Since then Farhan has been avoiding fights. Farhan recently appeared on Rhea Chakraborty's podcast with his wife Shibani Dandekar. During this, he said that his parents' divorce had made him very angry.

Their parents' separation changed his perspective on things.

Farhan Akhtar said, "For me, the moment that changed my whole perspective about things was probably my parents' separation. Till then, it seemed that everything was fine. And I think it forced me to go further in my realm because being young, I didn't know what was happening."

Zoya was more sensible.

Farhan further said, "I didn't know what was happening. Zoya (Akhtar) knew a lot more about what was happening, and I think in some way, being older, she saved me from the kind of grief that my mother was going through at that time. As a girl, my mother was more comfortable talking to her. And Zoya has always been older and wiser than her age. She grew up very fast. I was just in my world, unaware of what was happening."

How did Farhan become angry?

Farhan further said, "I think I became very defensive after my parents separated, because when we had fights, the kids were very mean and didn't have that filter, so they say anything that could hurt the other child. They are not aware of how psychologically and emotionally they are harming someone. I think that's the part that made me angry - 'Why do I have to listen to this?'

On the work front, farhan akhtar will soon be seen in 120 Bahadur. He will play the role of PVC Major Shaitan Singh in the film. He will also direct ranveer singh and kiara advani starrer 'Don 3'.
