Film shooting has been going on in madhya pradesh since 1952. India's first Technicolor film Aan was shot in Narsinghgarh fort in Rajgarh district. It was released simultaneously in 28 countries. After this, some shooting of raj Kapoor's Shree 420 was done in Shajapur in 1955 and rani Roopmati in 1957, Naya Daur was shot in Budhni of Sehore district in 1957 and Mujhe Jeene Do was shot in Chambal region in 1963.

Similarly, Toilet Ek prem Katha in 2017, Bajirao Mastani in 2015, Gangaajal 2, Rajneeti, Stree, Panga, Mohenjo Daro and the recently released web series panchayat in Sehore earned a lot of fame.
