Neena Gupta's ex-boyfriend mocked her for waitressing…
Neena Gupta is recognized as one of the versatile actresses in the hindi film industry. At the age of 65, she continues to deliver memorable performances, and the unique roles crafted for her have inspired audiences across various age groups. Recently, she received the prestigious 70th National Award for her exceptional acting in the film "Uunchai." In a recent interview, she reflected on the challenges she faced during the early stages of her career, particularly when she moved to mumbai from delhi with her former partner, who would ridicule her for taking a job as a waitress. In her discussion with siddharth Kannan, neena gupta recounted her experience of relocating to mumbai with her ex-boyfriend, during which she took a position as a waitress at a café.
In exchange for her work, she prepared bharta and received complimentary meals from the café owner. At that time, neither she nor her ex-boyfriend had employment, and they would spend their days at the café, hoping for opportunities from directors or producers. Neena described the situation as follows: "When I arrived in mumbai from delhi with my ex-boyfriend, we were both unemployed, so I began working at the prithvi café. I would prepare bharta in the evenings, and the owner would provide me with free dinner. During breaks, I made Irish coffee.
We would simply linger there, waiting for a director or producer to notice us." As the interview progressed, neena gupta recounted an incident where her then-boyfriend, seemingly under the influence of alcohol, belittled her for her job as a waitress. She recalled that he questioned whether she had moved to mumbai solely to serve as a waitress, despite relying on her for money to purchase cigarettes. Grateful for not marrying her former partner, Neena expressed her sentiments: "One day, my boyfriend came by, and I believe he was drunk. He asked if I had traveled from Delhi just to be a waitress here. He mocked me, even though I was the one paying for his cigarettes. He was criticizing me for working hard."
