Vidya Balan, currently promoting her upcoming film 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3', recently opened up about the struggles she faced in the early stages of her career, including being abruptly replaced in films. In a conversation with Galatta India, she recalled a particularly disheartening experience on the set of a tamil film, where she was let go after just two days of shooting.

When Vidya Balan was replaced in a film

Reflecting on the incident, vidya shared that she had gone to the producer’s office in chennai with her parents to understand why she was replaced. The producer’s response was harsh and unfiltered. “He showed us some clips from the film and said to my parents, ‘Dekho, kisi angle se heroine dikhti hai (Does she look like a heroine from any angle)? She doesn’t know how to act or dance.’ I was thinking, first let me act and dance; I hardly shot for the film,” Vidya recalled.

Vidya Balan felt insecure.

This experience left vidya feeling deeply insecure. She added, “For six months, I didn’t look at myself in the mirror because I felt ugly. If you want to reject someone, do that, but always be kind with your words because words have the power to be very damaging or nurturing. I will never forget that.” This incident, she says, taught her a valuable lesson about kindness and the impact of words, which she carries with her to this day.
