In a conversation with filmmaker Atul Taishete, Pankaj Tripathi's wife Mridula told that she first saw the star in a picture and their love story started in 1993. After this, both of them got married in the year 2004.

Meanwhile Mridula told, 'I saw my husband and he saw me for the first time on 23 May 1993. Before that we had seen each other in pictures. This picture was for my brother's wedding. A picture of a girl had come. There were two brothers and parents in the picture. It came when I was in ninth and he was in eleventh. Mridula told that she kept that photo in her bag and took it to school, seeing which her friends used to tease her a lot. They used to say that my younger brother will look good with you. Mridula saw Pankaj face to face for the first time on the day of her brother's Tilak. She said that we saw each other many times during Tilak. I still tell Pankaj that I saw you when your beard started growing and now I am seeing you when you have put on glasses. It has been a long journey.

Moreover about the love story, Mridula further said that both of us started liking each other and then started looking for reasons to meet and take the story forward. Pankaj's wife told that handkerchief played a special role in their story. When sharing an interesting incident, she told that the conversation between us started like this that if you wash your hands then you need a handkerchief and while giving it, the hands had to touch, which gives you a different feeling. Then the series continued. I used to call Pankaj aap. The special thing is that mother had no idea and she used to ask me to call Pankaj Bhaiya. Because he was my sister-in-law's brother and was two years older than me. There was a dilemma that I could not call him Bhaiya. I started with Pankaj ji and never called him Bhaiya or Pankaj.
