Sushmita Sen herself had once revealed that she had withdrawn her Miss india form because of aishwarya Rai. In an episode of the talk show Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai, sushmita sen talked about her Miss india journey. She told that when she came to know that aishwarya is participating in this Miss india competition, she had already accepted defeat.
She withdrew the form out of fear of aishwarya Rai
Miss india 1994 said- 'I came to know that this time aishwarya is also participating. So I said please return my form too. I am not going. I quickly withdrew my form saying that she is very beautiful. Very beautiful and the rest of the world knows her. I don't want to go with her, so I came home and got beaten up by my mother. Sushmita told that her mother was very angry at her withdrawing the form.'
She submitted the form again on her mother's insistence
Sushmita told that she agreed to fill the form again on her mother's insistence and motivation. Her mother had said- 'What is this that you have accepted defeat even before trying. Okay, let her win and if you think that she is the most beautiful girl in the world, then lose to her. And what is the use of losing to someone else. Go and give your best shot.'
Aishwarya came first runner up, Sushmita started crying
Sushmita says- 'Then the next day he reached with the form and said brother, take last minute entry. Then what happened after that in Goa, I still remember it. Ash had won all the prelims, so that is why I had accepted that forget it, nothing is going to happen. Then when aishwarya Rai was announced as the first runner up, I was about to cry on the stage that I regret not even coming first runner up.'
