My father was very patient. Sushmita had told that she was able to adopt daughter Renee only because of her father. She had said- It was only with his support that the courts gave me Renee. Without him I would not have been able to do this.'
Sushmita's father did everything in the name of his adopted granddaughter
The actress says- 'The system in india is very particular, if not a father then a father figure, and there is no person better than your own father. The law says that to show the intention, the father has to transfer half of his property to the child. My father signed everything in her name. I am very proud of my father, of a country like India.'
Fought a 10-year legal battle for second daughter
sushmita sen had to fight a long legal battle to adopt her second daughter Alisa. indian law says that if someone adopts a daughter first, then he cannot adopt a girl the second time. He will have to adopt a boy. But sushmita sen had to adopt Alisa only. In such a situation, she fought a legal battle for 10 years along with her father and also won.
