CBFC Updated Film Certification System: The censor board will now give certificates to films in these 5 categories, know the meaning of all

CBFC Updated Film Certification System: The censor board has made some new updates to its old process of giving certificates to films. These updates are going to be very beneficial for parents.

CBFC Updated Film Certification System

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) plays an important role in the distribution of films made in India. The CBFC has followed a standard process for film certification for more than 4 decades. However, now some changes have been made in this process.

After the recent update, this process has got a new look. The benefit of this will be that it will be easier for parents to understand which film is suitable for their children. According to the new structure, now five different categories have been included.

The new updates made by CBFC recently are aimed at helping parents decide better content for their children.

Which categories has CBFC created?

Under the new update, CBFC will now issue certificates to films in UA 7+, UA 13+, UA 16+, and A categories. Now let's understand these categories properly.

U category

If a film is given a certificate in this category, it means that such a film can be watched by viewers of all ages, whether children or elderly.

Sub-categories under the UA category

This category has been divided into four different parts in terms of age. The first is UA 7+, the second is UA 13+ and the third is UA 16+. If such films are kept in these categories, then they are not banned for children but come with some caution according to age.

UA 7+ Category

This category means that these movies are suitable for children aged 7 years and above. However, in this category, the guardian will be able to decide whether the movie is suitable for their younger child or not.

UA 13+ Category

This category means that these movies can be watched by children aged 13 years and above.

UA 16+ Category

Similarly, the certificate of this category will guide the parents or guardians that it is suitable for their children above 16 years of age.

A Category

This category will include those movies that can be watched by people aged 18 years and above. These films are made for adults.

What will be the benefit of the new category?

This new certification system aims to give accurate information about the content to parents and guardians, which will help them choose the right content for their children.

ETimes has written quoting CBFC board members that work was going on on this new update for many years. This new structure will ensure that all films do not go into the same category.
