Prateek gandhi and Patralekha's much-awaited film Phule has finally got a release date. Based on the life and work of social reformers mahatma Jyotirao and savitribai phule, the film will be released in theatres on April 11 this year. The release date also coincides with Jyotirao's 197th birth anniversary.


Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Anant Mahadevan, the film will see Pratik gandhi playing the role of mahatma Jyotirao Phule and Patralekhaa as his wife Savitribai Phule. Savitribai Phule, a great social reformer in indian history, was born on this day in 1831 in Naigaon, Satara district of Maharashtra. Savitribai opened the country's first girls' school in Bhide Wada, Pune on this day (3 January) in 1848. savitribai phule, opposing the male-dominated society, went from house to house and inspired people to educate girls. Savitribai died on 10 March 1897 due to plague.
