Former Fossils Member Chandramouli Biswas Found Dead In Kolkata, police Suspect Suicide

In a tragic turn of events, former Fossils band member Chandramouli Biswas was found dead at his residence in Kolkata's Indian Mirror Street on Sunday.


In a tragic turn of events, former Fossils band member Chandramouli Biswas was found dead at his residence in Kolkata's Indian Mirror Street on Sunday. The 48-year-old artist’s body was discovered hanging in his rented home, leaving the music fraternity and fans in shock. 

Chandramouli, who had been an integral part of Fossils for 18 years from 2000 to 2018, was currently associated with two bands, Golok and Zombie Cage Control. According to police sources, his death is being treated as a case of suspected suicide. 


Chandramouli was found dead by his band member

At the time of the incident, Chandramouli was reportedly alone at home as his parents were attending a social gathering. His hanging body was first spotted by Mahul Chakraborty, the vocalist of the Golok band, who had visited Chandramouli’s residence for some work. 


Speaking to the media, Mahul said, "Biswas has not taken my calls since morning, and I became worried for him. I called up one of his close friends and both of us reached his home to check on him when we found him dead. It's a big loss for the entire bengal music industry.Mahul immediately informed the local police, who rushed to the scene and launched an investigation. 


According to Police, preliminary findings suggest Chandramouli was battling depression and financial difficulties, with reports indicating a lack of work opportunities. A suicide note was also recovered from the scene, which is being examined as part of the investigation. 


Fossils manager on Chandramouli's death

The news of Chandramouli's demise broke just as Fossils was preparing for a performance in Kalyani. Fossils manager Rupsha Dasgupta shared that Chandramouli Biswas was part of the band from 2000 to 2018 and he left the band due to health concerns. 


Rupsha told Hindustan Times, "Chandra has a huge fan following among the young crowd, and it is shocking that he died so soon. Apart from being a terrific musician, he was remarkably cheerful and socialized with people from all walks of life. A brilliant student and engineer from JU, he left everything just to do music. Chandra performed with us there for over 15 years. He was a crucial member of the band. I spoke to Allen. Rupam and the other members of the band are devastated. We don't know how the band will perform after hearing this news."
