A case has been registered against actor venkatesh Daggubati, his nephew and fellow actor rana Daggubati, and their family members in connection with the demolition of a hotel in Hyderabad.
A case has been registered against prominent actor venkatesh Daggubati, his nephew and fellow actor rana Daggubati, and their family members, including producer D Suresh, in connection with the demolition of a hotel in Hyderabad. The land was reportedly leased to a businessman by the Daggubati family.
Case against venkatesh and rana Daggubati
Acting on the directive of a local court, the Filmnagar police station filed an FIR on january 11. The charges listed include criminal conspiracy, house trespass, and other offenses under various sections of the indian Penal Code (IPC).
The complainant in the case, who is himself an accused in a separate matter involving an alleged attempt to poach BRS MLAs, claimed that the Daggubati family leased him the land in Filmnagar in 2014. After finalizing the lease through a registered agreement, he began operating a hotel on the premises.
Allegations against the actors
The businessman alleged that despite the lease being valid, Venkatesh and his family attempted to forcibly evict him from the property. In response, he filed an injunction suit against them, which is currently under consideration at the City Civil Court. An interim injunction order, which prevents any action until the case is resolved, has been extended periodically.
However, according to the complainant, in january 2024, the Daggubati family, along with unidentified individuals, unlawfully entered the leased property and demolished the hotel structure. Feeling aggrieved, he approached the nampally court, which subsequently directed the police to register a case and investigate the matter.
Confirming the developments, a police official told PTI, "A case was registered on january 11, and further investigations are underway."
