Chhaava Controversy: Amidst the controversy over 'Chhava', director Laxman Utekar has taken a big decision. He has met MNS chief raj Thackeray and announced the removal of some scenes from the film.
Chhava Controversy
Vicky Kaushal's upcoming film 'Chhava' has got embroiled in controversies even before its release. The trailer of the film was released on january 22, after watching which people started protesting against it. In the trailer, Sambhaji Maharaj (Vicky Kaushal) and his wife Yesubai (Rashmika Mandanna) were shown dancing, which was opposed by maharashtra Chief minister devendra fadnavis and other ministers. In such a situation, now the director of 'Chhava' has met MNS chief raj Thackeray.
'Chhava' director Laxman Utekar has met MNS chief raj Thackeray and assured him that objectionable scenes will be deleted from the film. Laxman has issued a statement saying that 'Chhava' will hit the theatres on february 14 only after the scene is removed. The director said in his statement- 'I have met raj Thackeray. He is an excited reader and studious person.'
Lezim dance scene will be removed from 'Chhava'
In the statement, Utekar further said- 'I have taken some suggestions and guidance from him. I can say that his words are very helpful to me and after meeting him, I have decided to remove those scenes where we have shown that Sambhaji Maharaj was doing Lezim dance. Lezim dance is not a big deal. Sambhaji is much bigger than Lezim dance. So we are removing those scenes from the film. When Sambhaji Maharaj attacked Barhanpur, he was only 20 years old.'
'Lezim dance is not bigger than Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj'
The 'Chhava' director further said- 'We have acquired the rights of shivaji Sawant's book named 'Chhava', in which he wrote about Sambhaji Maharaj participating in the holi festival. He would take out a coconut from the holy fire. We imagined Maharaj as a 20-year-old man. It was clear that he had done Lezim dance and why not? Lezim is a part of maratha culture. It is just our traditional dance. But, if anyone is hurt by those dance moves or Lezim dance, we will remove them. Lezim dance is not bigger than Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.'
'Chhava' will be released after consulting historians
Laxman Utekar further responded to the statements of ministers in which it was said that 'Chhava' should be released after consulting historians. The director said- 'We have arranged a special premiere show on january 29. Some historians and people who have studied history will be there. We will take their guidance.
