Budget 2025: 'Finance minister started with agriculture, but is silent on the demands of farmers', congress took a jibe
Taking a dig at the central government, congress leader jairam ramesh said on social media platform X that the Finance minister has started the budget with agriculture, but he is completely silent on the demands of the farmers and the recommendations of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture.
The congress on saturday attacked the central government over the announcements related to the agriculture sector in the budget. The party accused Union Finance minister nirmala sitharaman of being completely silent on the demands of farmers including legal guarantee to MSP and agricultural loan waiver. Finance minister nirmala sitharaman said that the Union Budget 2025-26 will initiate reforms in six areas taxation, urban development, mining, financial sector, power, and regulatory framework. In her budget speech, nirmala sitharaman announced the PM Dhan Dhyan Krishi Yojana. It will cover 100 districts with low yields, modern crop intensity, and below-average loan norms.
Targeting the central government, congress leader jairam ramesh said on social media platform X, "The Finance minister has started the budget with agriculture, but she is completely silent on the demands of the farmers and the recommendations of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture - implementation of MSP as a legal guarantee, agricultural loan waiver, inflation indexation of PM Kisan payments, reform of PM Crop Insurance Scheme."
In another post, he said, "Make in india which had become Fake in india, now has a new name: National Manufacturing Mission." He further said the Finance minister talked about four engines: agriculture, MSME, investment and export. So many engines that the budget has completely derailed.
