Anthony Russo was born on 3 february 1970 in Cleveland, Ohio. Both he and his brother Joseph are of Italian origin. Anthony Russo was attracted to filmmaking with his brother when he was a graduate student at Case Western Reserve University. Here he directed his first feature film 'Pieces', which he financed through student loans and credit cards. After the release of this film, famous filmmaker Steven Soderbergh praised the work of the Russo brothers and produced their next film 'Welcome to Collinwood (2002). This film featured big stars like George Clooney, William H. Macy, and sam Rockwell.
