Malini Awasthi was born on 11 february 1967 in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh. Apart from hindi and Awadhi songs, Malini Awasthi also performs Thumri and Kajri. The folk singer is a post graduate in Hindustani classical music from Bhatkhande University, Lucknow. Malini Awasthi has been very smart in studies. She is also a gold medalist in Hindustani classical music.
Apart from this, Malini Awasthi also did an MA in Modern history from lucknow University and again won a gold medal. She was a disciple of Padma Vibhushan Vidushi girija Devi, the great Hindustani classical singer of Banaras Gharana. Apart from Bhojpuri, Malini also sings in Awadhi and hindi languages. For her best performance in the field of singing, the government of india honored her with the country's biggest civilian honor Padma Shri in the year 2016.
