'Have some mercy...' jaya bachchan urged the government!
Samajwadi party (SP) rajya sabha member and veteran actress jaya bachchan has often put forward her views for the film industry in the House. On Tuesday, she appealed to Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman to bring some proposals to save the film industry and help keep it alive.
Accused of trying to 'end' the film industry
Actually the Union Budget 2025-26 was being discussed in the Rajya Sabha. During this, actress turned politician jaya bachchan accused the government of trying to 'end' the film industry. Along with this, she said that it has become difficult for daily wage laborers to survive and single-screen theaters are closing down, people are not going to cinema halls because everything has become very expensive.
Film industry is being completely ignored
She said, "You have completely ignored an industry. Earlier governments also did the same thing. But today you have taken it to the next level. You have completely ignored the film and entertainment world, because you use them only for your purpose." Bachchan said in the Upper house, "Do you want to destroy this industry? You cannot do a bigger wrong than this... This is the only industry that connects the whole world to India."
Jaya Bachchan appeals for relief
She appealed for some "relief" for the country's audio-visual industry and alleged that cinema was being targeted. She said, "I am speaking on behalf of my film industry and on behalf of the audio-visual industry, I am requesting this house to please spare them. Please have some mercy on them. You are trying to destroy this industry. Please don't do this .. Today you have started targeting cinema as well." jaya bachchan made this request to Nirmala Sitharaman
She requested Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman to consider the issue very seriously, saying that this is a 'very difficult industry'. jaya bachchan said, 'I request the Finance minister to consider this and please bring something to help keep this industry alive.'
