Taufiq Qureshi said that in the 70s my father started teaching and playing less. He used to travel less and teach more. He had opened his school. A gentleman came to the school and said that my child plays very well. That child played, he had a good hand. I was also sitting so Father said to write down his name. After that, his next question was- Khan sahab, in how many years will my child start playing like Zakir? My father looked at me and said see this is him and there is another one older than him. Bikram Ghosh did his first concert at the age of 9
Tabla player Bikram Ghosh shared many stories of his childhood. He said that he did his first concert at the age of 9. He said- I played at the age of 9. There were 100-150 people at that concert. Everyone listened to it and said a lot about what he was playing. They asked my father what your child was playing. We came home and my father told me that I should not play for the next 10 years because he thought that I would get attached to it. If I get attached to this praise, I will not practice. I did not play anywhere after that. After that, I started playing directly at the age of 19.
