Parvati Nair: Actress Parvati Nair along with PETA India has gifted a huge mechanical elephant to a temple in Kerala. Now religious rituals will be performed through this elephant made with the help of technology.
Gajanan Maharaj is needed to perform many religious rituals in temples. But, many times during this time elephants take a violent form, due to which there is a possibility of an unpleasant incident. Now religious works can be performed in the temple without worrying about such incidents. This has been made possible with the help of technology. Instead of a real elephant, a mechanical elephant will be involved in these religious rituals. This mechanical elephant has been donated by actress Parvati Nair along with PETA india to a temple in Kerala.
According to news agency PTI, amid growing reports of elephants going on a rampage during temple festivals, PETA India in association with actress Parvati Nair has gifted a giant mechanical elephant to the 350-year-old Sri Balabhadrakali Kshetram in Perumkadavila near Thiruvananthapuram. The elephant weighs around 800 kg and is named Devi Dasan.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) india said in a statement on Saturday, "The three-metre-tall, 800-kg mechanical elephant Devi Dasan was donated to the temple on friday evening. This elephant is in honor of the temple's decision to never keep or hire a live elephant.
Parvati Nair says, "Technology has made it easier to perform religious rituals without risking anyone's life. I am very happy to be a part of this initiative." It is known that this initiative is sponsored by Action for Elephants (AFE) UK and facilitated by PETA India. PETA said, 'Devi Dasan will be used to conduct ceremonies in the temple in a safe and cruelty-free manner, allowing real elephants to live freely with their families in the forest'.
