This is the reason that after presenting South's blockbuster films like 'Bahubali' and 'Devara', now Karan Johar's Dharma Production is going to present a punjabi film. Karan Johar and his dharma Production have joined hands with veteran punjabi actor, singer, and producer Gippy Grewal. dharma Production will present Gippy Grewal's upcoming film 'Akal'. Through 'Akal', Dharma Production is making its entry into the punjabi film industry. This is Dharma's first punjabi film, which is also the first Punjabi film to be released in Hindi.

According to reports, Gippy Grewal said about Akal, “Bringing the story of our Sikh warriors to the screen is an important and passionate project for me. With the support of dharma Productions, we believe that 'Akal' will cross the language barriers and reach every corner of india, highlighting the strength and bravery of our heritage.”
Produced by Gippy Grewal and ravneet kaur Grewal of Humble Motion Pictures FZCO in association with dharma Productions, 'Akal' is a historical story based on true events. In which stories of courage and bravery of Sikh warriors are shown. Written and directed by Gippy Grewal, 'Akal' will be released on 10 April on the occasion of Baisakhi. The film will also feature Nimrat Khaira, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Nikitin Dheer, Mita Vashisht, Shinda Grewal, Ekom Grewal, Jaggi Singh, ashish Duggal, Bhaana La, Harinder Bhullar and Jarnail Singh in pivotal roles.
