Sushant Singh Rajput Case: CBI’s Closure Report Says Actor Died By Suicide, Rules Out Foul Play
CBI has concluded that Sushant Singh Rajput's death was a suicide. The investigation was handed over to cbi after Sushant's family filed an FIR against rhea chakraborty and others.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has submitted its final closure report in the sushant singh rajput case, concluding that the actor died by suicide. The report, filed in court on Saturday, states that no foul play or criminal conspiracy was involved in his death. sushant singh rajput was found dead at his residence in Bandra on 14 June 2020. While initial findings suggested suicide, the case was later transferred to the cbi for investigation.
According to the CBI’s report, the actor died by suicide and was not forced or provoked by anyone. The agency has also given a clean chit to Rhea Chakraborty and her family, dismissing any allegations against them.
The investigation did not find any evidence of a criminal conspiracy or foul play
The forensic examination conducted by the All india Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) ruled out the possibility of homicide. Their experts confirmed that neither poisoning nor strangulation was involved in Rajput’s death.
Singh's body was discovered hanging from the ceiling fan, but no suicide note was recovered from the scene. Later, the family of Sushant lodged an FIR in patna against rhea chakraborty and others, alleging abetment to suicide, and theft, among others.
A cbi probe was approved by the central government following the recommendation of the bihar government. On August 19, 2020, the supreme court directed the cbi to take over the probe and granted the central agency full authority to conduct the inquiry.
In its conclusive medico-legal opinion to the cbi, forensic specialists at AIIMS had dismissed the claims of poisoning and strangling made in the case. The CBI had recorded the statements of Rhea Chakraborty, the rumored girlfriend of Rajput, and others in his close circle, and collected the actor's medical records.
In his complaint to bihar Police, Rajput's father had alleged that Chakraborty, along with her family members, misappropriated his son's money, a charge denied by her in television interviews.
Now that the cbi has filed its closure report, the only legal recourse left for Rajput’s family is to file a protest petition in the mumbai court. If they are dissatisfied with the report, they also have the option to appeal in court.
The final decision on whether to accept the CBI’s report or order further investigation now rests with the court.
Rhea Chakraborty's Lawyer Thanks CBI
Reacting to the report, Satish Maneshinde, senior advocate in the bombay High court, thanked the CBI “for having thoroughly investigated every aspect of the case from all angles and closed the case".
“The amount of false narrative in the social media and electronic media was uncalled for. Rhea Chakravarty underwent untold miseries and was behind bars for 27 days for no fault of hers until Justice Sarang V. Kotwal released her on bail. I salute her & her family for having kept silent and yet suffered the inhuman treatment they were meted," he said in a statement as quoted by News18.
“I was hounded and threatened with danger to our lives. I must say nothing deterred us from carrying out our legal duties. This country is still very safe, and every citizen crying for justice has hope due to our vibrant judiciary," he further added.
