Prakash Raj [Gururaj] is one of the leading mafia leaders and he has his
own rowdy gang. His three sons are Jagapathi Babu, Vadde Naveen and
Manchu Manoj, All his three sons are his backbone. While on visit to
temple, Gururaj is killed by an unknown gang. His whole family gets no
clue about this 'Attack', All his three sons starts looking for
possibilities behind the murder. And every time they find some motive,
things go other way around.. And then comes rise of Radha [Manchu
Manoj], How he solves the mystery and finds the real motive behind the
Attack need to be seen on silver screen.
Manchu Manoj who had a
bad time with his last release has now impressed audience with the role
of 'Radha'. He is completely flawless and his body language and
ruthlessness in eyes are perfect examples to prove his mettle. Surabhi
who gave some memorable performance in 'Beeruva' has done a limited job
here. Her role is limited and her screen presence is even more limited.
Versatile actor
Prakash Raj after doing a soft role in 'Oopiri' has made a mark once
again in this project. His attitude and acting is something phenomenal. Rest of them are mostly showing frown face.
ATTACK (2016) movie has a crisp running time of just 107 minutes. Ram Gopal Varma who is the captain of the ship has executed a simple task of revenge drama with a short narration time. Ram Gopal Varma has clearly worked on the script and it is evident right from the title card. He has used a dark tone and has also reused some scenes from old NTR movies. Editing is the biggest strength as the running time is even below two hours. The cuts are so perfect and clean. There are no zig-zag cuts at any point.
The positive factor of the movie is action sequences. All stunts are realistic and they are brutal. C.Kalyan has made the production values high. Ravi Shankar's sound track just takes the movie on a different lane. The dark, gritty nature is well blended with his tunes. But at times even that is a let down. Due to violence, all we hear was 'NOISE' at times.
Despite these, something is lacking in the movie. Cinematography is another crucial yet below par - aspect in the movie and it was like more of a raw footage, and there are lots of blur moments. But still the aerial shots deserve a mention. Right now most cinematographers prefer the Aerial view and that is captivating.
Ram Gopal Varma has
tried to make a thriller with violence. The movie takes its time to
shape and it slowly evolves like a caterpillar. But once the drama
starts, it's all just 'Attack'. One gang hunts the other and other plans
to outsmart the another. Music fails and that is a huge loss for the
project. But still Manchu Manoj carries the movie single handed. The
movie is more like a see-saw and at times it rises and at times it falls
flat. Interval block will remain one of the best ever in recent times.
