'Babu Bangaram' is a Telugu Action Romantic comedy flick written and directed by Maruthi. The movie features Venkatesh and Nayanthara in the lead roles. Ghibran scores music. Technical team features Richard Prasad for cinematography and SB Uddav for Editing. Posani Krishna Murali has done role of antagonist. Brahmaji and Sonam Bajwa are part of supporting cast. The movie is bankrolled by S.Radha Krishna under Haarika and Hassine creations banner. The movie marks return of Venkatesh and Nayantara after a long gap. ACP Krishna (Venkatesh) is one good police cop who seems to have a comic attitude. He is sent to help Nayantara and he goes offduty. As always, Venkatesh falls in love with Nayantara and after 'Mallela Vaanalaa' song Nayantara introduces Fruit vendor Batthayi Babji ( Prudhvi) as her Bava. She faces a trouble and that is why ACP is sent off duty to safeguard her. However ACP Kalyan saves her from the problems and finally patches up with her in a lighter vein climax.

Venkatesh is at his usual best. He is backa fter 2 years and he is still seen with same energy levels. He looks fabulous as ACP Krishna and his comic timing is perfect. However we are bored to hear the same comedy words again and again. He is fit as police officer. Nayantara is so gorgeous and Tollywood has definitely missed her a lot. After pairing with Venkatesh for 'Lakshmi' and 'Tulasi', she has teamed up with him for third time. This time things got haywire with a weak screenplay. Posani Krishna Murali, Sampath Raj grabs our attention after the lead casting. They have done justice to their roles. Posani Krishna in particular has been good. His characterization is also too good. Murali Sharma and Vennela Kishore have done their routine jobs as supporting roles and they have fit the bill perfectly. The casting is strong and there are no doubts about it.

Richard Prasad's Cinematography is highly refreshing and it is obvious from the promos and teasers itself. The picturization of songs is pathetic, but the colours and frames were spectacular. The movie has some amazing shots, exotic locales and settings. Ghibran has proved his mettle in Background score. However songs are below par. SB Uddav could have done better role with editing. The scenes are non-linear and few comedy scenes pop out of no where. With some more cuts and crisp running time, things would have been better. Darling Swamy's dialogues are a big plus. At times, they convey emotions and at times they convey humour. Production house has spent lavish amount on the movie and it is obvious from the frames.

The movie is Below-average and it is no where near 'BBM'. Maruthi has clearly failed to ride on his success. Comedy scenes are pretty ordinary and weak screenplay pulls the movie down even more. Technical wise, Cinematography and Background score alone saves the movie. This is definitely not the come back Venkatesh would have anticipated. The movie might have a decent run considering the long weekend.
