A 40 year old Indian Origin restaurant owner is banned for employing four illegal immigrants. The ban was imposed for a span of six years. Harcharan Singh Sekhon who is the owner of Bombay Blues Restaurant in Glasgow employed illegal persons. The restaurant cannot operate till 2022.
Robert Clarke who is Group Leader in Insolvent Investigations North said, "The Insolvency Service rigorously pursues directors who break employment and immigration laws. Appointing a staff in an illegal way means they just don't get basic employment rights.
The public has a right to expect some laws and they should realize that breaking the law will result in consequences. Running a limited company brings with it statutory obligations as well as protections, and this should serve as a warning to other directors tempted to take on illegal staff."
UK Home Office Immigration officers are hunting down illegal workers and so far they have issued 25000 pound penalty. Most of the illegal workers are asked to pay less than the National minimum wage.
