Reportedly despite the all too obvious economic slump, a majority of respondents of the india Today Group-Karvy Insights Mood of the Nation (MOTN) 2020 poll have rated the narendra modi government's handling of the economy as outstanding or good. Of the 12,021 respondents interviewed across 19 states, 72 percent have rated the nda government's handling of the economy as outstanding or good. When asked 'How would you rate the modi government's handling of the economy?', while 48 percent responded with 'good', while 24 percent said it was outstanding.


As per the MOTN survey, 21 percent respondent said it was average and only six percent said the modi government was handling the economy poorly. The ratings have changed drastically in the past six months. The january round of MOTN 2020 poll showed while people believed in the modi government's economic policies to revive the economy, a majority of the respondents of the survey said they felt the slowdown in the economy.


While roughly 60 percent of the 12,141 respondents interviewed for the january edition of the MOTN survey said that they felt the pinch of the economic slump, 29 percent felt the economy was doing well. But perception about a slow or low performing economy collectively was as high as 32 percent of respondents believed that the economy was growing but slowly. About 18 percent believed that the economy was not growing and only 10 per cent believed there was a decelerating economic growth.
